Richard Krick was appointed to fill the vacant position on the Planning commission. His was the only application received. Brian Guillot was appointed as the Community Development Director. Art Vela was appointed as the Public Works Director/City Engineer.
The Council approved the reduction of the current zoning requirement of 10,000 sq. ft. lots to 7000 sq. ft. lots for a proposed development East of Sunset Ave and North of Wilson. Council members Franklin, Movyer and Welch voted for the approval. Council members Peterson and Miller voted against it, stating that the application had not been sufficiently studied.
Officer Bob Fisher presented the problems with animal control in Banning. An Ad Hoc committee of councilmember Peterson and Moyer was established to review the problem and report to the Council their recommendations. Members of the community will be asked to join this committee.
